Cummerbund
- Duck Cloth
- Elastic
- Velcro
- And of course a sewing machine :)
Boots:
For the boots I got regular work boots and covered them with vinyl. This is similar to how the original were made. While the white rubber boot route many go is easy and works it does not look that great and the shoes of a costume are just one of those easily neglected areas.

Armor:
Make it your self through many different means or try and find someone who makes armor. We tend not to recommend sellers so please do not ask, but we will tell you that we strongly recommend not purchasing armor from e-bay. It is almost always either over priced or will not be of a good quality.
hypotheticly you might find armor pieces here.
The Blaster
I got my screen accurate blaster through a friend, who does not sell them but my first blaster was home made and I still am very proud of it regardless of accuracy. You can see how I made it here in the props section
The cummerbund - 1
The cummerbund of my Bikerscout costume was really very easy to make. I have moderate sewing abilities but somehow managed to put mine together. I used Duck Cloth and had no pattern so for the pouches I took some paper and sized them to aprox what I thought the pouch size would be and made paper pouches. These paper pouches I later used as my pattern.
The Cummerbund - 2
The body / torso I took the bulk of the cloth and folded in it half for added material thickness. I then wrapped it around my waist and marked off how I wanted it to fit. At that point I sewed it together adding a triangle for the crotch area. Let the Speedo and diaper jokes commence.
The Cummerbund - 3
At the end of the triangle flap I sewed on some elastic which Velcro’s to the back of the cummerbund. I also added elastic suspenders to help keep the cummerbund up. I noticed that the front middle would sag when wearing the costume over extended periods of time so I also added a snap that attaches the front middle of the cummerbund to the back of the chest plate.
Assembly Tips
The flight suit I used is just your basic every day plain black flight suit. My first flight suit I sewed Velcro to the suit which was also attached to the armor pieces to help keep them in place. I eventually redid the suit with snaps and when assembling your armor I so recommend the snap method.

There are snaps in the flight suit in the shoulders, knees, elbows and forearms. These are nice because the help keep the armor from sliding forward and I recommend every one add the snaps especially for the arm pieces. Before the snaps my arm pieces always slid up and onto my forearm and the snaps help prevent that.
